Clarify travel waiver governance before outsourcing overflow
Use disruption support discovery to identify changing rules, customer consent, and agent authority.
Travel disruption support changes by the hour. A BPO sales executive should discover how waiver rules reach agents before agreeing to handle rebooking contacts. The key issue is governance: an agent needs a current rule, authorized system access, and a way to hand off exceptions.
Ask who publishes waiver updates, how an agent knows an update is current, and which travelers require extra verification. Ask about loyalty profiles and customer consent before assuming a partner can see the same information as internal staff. These questions produce a training and access review with real inputs.
“A winter storm can leave us with ten thousand rebooking calls,” says Nora, a travel service executive. “Could your team start changing flights right away?” Andre replies, “What gives an agent authority to change a booking when a waiver is active?” Nora says the airline publishes rules throughout the day and some loyalty profiles require extra consent. Andre asks, “Where do agents see the new rule, and who resolves a case that falls outside it?” She names an airline liaison and the client operations desk. Andre says, “Let us review a recent disruption with those teams. We can identify the rule source, the required access, and the exact handoff for exceptions before we set a transition plan.”
Take one fictional waiver update and explain it to a partner playing an agent. Have the partner ask about an exception. Your practice is complete when you can name the source of the rule and the owner of the escalation without inventing either one.
