Connect Security Discovery to Business Continuity Ownership
Explore one coordination decision while keeping continuity claims supported by evidence.
Security and business continuity teams meet at coordination points: an alert reaches an operational leader, an application owner confirms impact, or a recovery decision needs trusted information. An account executive should not promise that a security product delivers continuity. Identify one decision the customer owns where security evidence and continuity ownership must connect.
Ask which scenario the customer is preparing for, who owns the continuity plan, and how that person learns about a relevant security event. The answer may reveal separate notification systems, an unclear outside normal hours contact, or a policy that already defines the handoff. Keep the discussion on the customer’s general process without asking for sensitive incident details.
For a fictional financial services firm, a security leader wants to clarify how an alert related to ransomware reaches the business continuity duty officer. The AE can bring together the SOC lead and continuity coordinator to map a tabletop notification. They can record who validates the alert, who communicates internally, and which assumptions still require policy review.
When a buyer says, “Continuity is not my team,” the AE should ask who owns the coordination decision and whether an introduction is appropriate. A helpful next step is a working session the customer approves around one scenario. The seller should not make guarantees about recovery time, resilience, or outcome.
