Lead a Port Expansion Account Review

A port expansion can add equipment demand while access rules and work sequences keep changing. The outside account manager should bring the contractor's project schedule together with the branch contacts, equipment categories, terminal access requirements, and decision dates. A useful review separates fixed demand from portions awaiting permits or cargo schedules.

Celeste, a project director, said, “We are adding two berths. Can you guarantee machines for every phase?” Andre replied, “I can organize planning around your confirmed phases. Which dates are approved, which equipment groups are still estimates, and who controls terminal access?” Celeste explained that security badges took two weeks and crane work could move the laydown area. Andre said, “I will ask each serving branch to assess the confirmed requests and join your scheduler, terminal contact, and operations lead for a forecast review.”

Andre does not turn a preliminary program into an allocation commitment. He gives fleet planners a clearer picture and helps the customer surface dependencies early. Commercial and operational decisions can then move through the appropriate account and branch process.

Practice using a calendar that includes one firm phase and two tentative phases. Ask a teammate to play a director who wants every unit held immediately. Explain how the forecast will be recorded, identify the next decision date, and name the people needed for access and fleet review. Check whether your summary leaves any owner unnamed.
