Assess nursing demand across clinics before requesting coverage
A staffing account executive can organize site demand, credentialing, and supervision facts before responding to rising patient waits.
Longer patient waits do not reveal which clinic needs help, which assignment is appropriate, or whether supervision is available. A staffing account executive should turn the broad request into a site review. The aim is to give clinical leaders a decision record they can use when they approve assignments.
Rosa, the clinic COO, said, “Can you solve our wait times this month?” Neil answered, “I can help gather the staffing facts, but site leaders need to decide what coverage is suitable. Can we compare schedules, demand by site, credential needs, and supervision capacity?” Rosa said, “One location is already above its supervision ratio, and HR has not received current schedules.” Neil replied, “Let’s ask the chief nursing officer to name a clinical owner for each site. We can identify which requests are ready for review and which need schedule information first.”
Neil should avoid assuming a nurse can float between all five clinics. The assessment should show each site’s shift pattern, role need, clinical approval contact, and missing information. It can also record the date for a follow up review, since a single week of waiting data may not describe the next month. Credentialing and clinical leadership should verify placement conditions.
Create a simple site worksheet during practice. Have a colleague provide incomplete facts and require yourself to name the missing owner before suggesting coverage. Finish by summarizing the two sites ready for review and the one question holding back every other request.
