Reset a supervisor feedback process after an unfair comment
Address a supervisor concern while keeping worker feedback job related and respectful.
A client supervisor may raise a legitimate performance concern in language that is not suitable for a worker record. A client success manager should slow the conversation down, capture the job related facts, and route sensitive issues through the right client process. The goal is a fair response and a workable assignment plan.
Ask what happened, when it happened, what work standard applied, and who observed it. Keep the note tied to behavior and impact. If the supervisor describes personality, appearance, or another personal judgment, redirect to the work situation. Do not decide an employment matter yourself. Identify the client's HR or authorized leader when escalation is needed.
Supervisor Grant told CSM Asha, “Lena just does not fit with the crew.” Asha said, “I want to understand the work concern. Can you describe a task, date, and expected standard?” Grant replied, “She missed the inventory handoff twice and the count was late.” Asha continued, “Thank you. I will document those two handoffs and ask the site manager how they want feedback handled. Please keep future notes tied to the task and the expected handoff time.”
The manager now has job-related facts to review.
Practice by taking three subjective comments from past coaching notes and rewriting them as observations, dates, and work expectations. Roleplay a supervisor who resists the questions. Focus on a calm phrase that brings the conversation back to the task. Then make a short escalation map for your account: site leader, client HR contact, staffing manager, and the channel each person expects for sensitive concerns.
