Modernization means different things to data teams. Ask which workload is forcing the decision: an unreliable pipeline, slow reporting, governance gaps, or a new analytics requirement. Choose a representative source, user, and decision that the platform must support. A workshop around one workload can reveal whether the issue is performance, data modeling, ownership, or tool fit. The buyer gets a practical proof plan and the seller avoids turning an abstract architecture discussion into a catalogue of platform features.
