Improve SIEM Analyst Adoption After a New Workflow Launch
Learn why analysts return to familiar investigation habits before prescribing enablement.
A new SIEM workflow can be technically available while analysts keep using their old queue, search habits, and handoff notes. A solutions engineer should treat that behavior as evidence to investigate. The issue may be missing context, a poorly timed rollout, unclear ownership, or a workflow that was never tested with the people expected to use it.
Ask which investigation step analysts still complete outside the new process and why. Then learn who trains analysts, who owns detection content, and what evidence would show that the new workflow is helping. The goal is to understand an analyst decision before proposing another feature session.
At a fictional travel company, analysts may review cloud alerts in the new system but return to a prior tool for identity context. The engineer can arrange a short review with an analyst and detection lead around one investigation. The customer decides which data and case are safe to discuss.
Do not treat low adoption as proof that the platform lacks value or that analysts resist change. Customer staffing, data quality, and rollout timing matter. Keep claims about integrations and coverage within verified facts and record any missing signal as an evaluation question.
In a practice call, let an analyst say, “It is faster to use the old way.” The engineer should ask which step is slower and what information is absent. They should not defend the launch or offer a generic dashboard walkthrough.
DealSpeak can coach whether the engineer finds a specific adoption barrier, names the operational owner, and earns a review of one real investigation. The next action should include a measure the customer approves and a date to assess it. Customer teams can use this record to prepare the next review with shared facts.
