Discover cloud onramp capacity needs
Help an architect define traffic patterns and validation work for a cloud connection review.
A cloud connection request becomes risky when capacity is selected from a rough estimate. A Solutions Engineer can guide the customer toward traffic evidence, application owners, and a test plan. The purpose is to understand present demand and the business events that may change it.
Ask which applications use the connection, which users access them, and when activity peaks. Request utilization records where they exist, then ask the application owner about planned migrations, backups, and reporting jobs. Separate measured use from forecasted use so the design conversation remains clear.
“We need a larger cloud link for next quarter,” says the infrastructure lead. Noor asks, “Which applications are driving the request, and do you have utilization from the current path?” He says backup traffic overlaps with morning reporting. Noor replies, “Can the application and backup owners show us those windows? We can build a test around the traffic pattern they expect.” The lead agrees to invite both owners and share a month of available monitoring data.
Before your next capacity call, make a table with application, owner, peak period, current evidence, and planned change. Ask a peer to challenge every empty field. In the customer session, use the table to agree what must be measured and what can be tested. Finish by confirming who will review the results and what decision the review is meant to support.
