Review LMS reporting integration before a workforce deadline

A workforce team facing a reporting deadline may ask an account executive for an automatic connection. Begin with the reporting fields, the state system, and the local identifiers. A promise made before technical review can create a deadline nobody controls.

Director Leah says, "Can your LMS submit every state report automatically before our grant filing?" Account executive Tomas replies, "We should verify the required fields and the current state interface before setting a timeline. Which report is due, and who owns the learner identifiers in your system?" Leah explains that the state changes its API annually and the college uses custom identifiers. Tomas says, "Those details affect the mapping. I can bring our integration specialist to a session with your IT and reporting office. We can compare the data dictionary, identify a test record, and document what the state interface accepts."

Tomas has changed an urgency request into a validation plan. He does not describe a connection as available simply because a similar institution uses the LMS. The test record keeps personal learner information out of an early discussion.

Prepare a discovery sheet with four fields: report name, data owner, identifier source, and test contact. Practice asking for the report before describing any capability. A manager can review whether the call ended with named technical owners and a specific validation question.
