Discover the Right Sofa Fabric for a Busy Home
Use household routines and care information to guide a showroom fabric conversation.
Fabric samples become meaningful when they are connected to the way a household uses a room. Ask who uses the sofa, where it sits, what spills or wear concern the shopper, and how much care they are willing to do. These questions lead to samples whose documented care guidance fits the household.
Read the manufacturer information with the customer. Explain cleaning codes, fiber content, and any available protection plan terms using approved materials. A tag cannot predict how a particular pet, child, sunlight level, or cleaning method will affect a sofa. When the customer needs technical advice beyond the documentation, involve the showroom manager or manufacturer representative.
A shopper says, “We have two dogs and a toddler. Which fabric will stay perfect?” The associate answers, “I can show fabrics with care guidance that suits active rooms. Tell me where the sofa will sit and what happens most often at home.” After hearing that muddy paws are common, the associate says, “Let’s compare these tighter weaves and their cleaning instructions. Which color and texture work with your room?”
For practice, place four fabric swatches on a table and assign each a fictional household. Roleplay a five minute discovery conversation, then match each household to two samples using the care cards. Ask a teammate to identify any claim you made without a source. Repeat until your questions lead the customer to information they can use after delivery.
