Build an evaluation plan around a budget cycle
Help a buyer sequence evidence, stakeholders, and decisions before a fiscal deadline creates pressure.
A fiscal deadline can make a buyer ask for certainty before the institution has defined its evaluation. The account executive can help by turning the deadline into a planning constraint. A useful plan names the decision to be made, the evidence required, and the dates when reviewers need to act.
Superintendent office lead Marc says, "We have funds available until June. Can you tell me the final price and guarantee we can buy before then?" Executive Asha says, "I can work with you on the information needed for a responsible purchase discussion. What decision must be made before June, and which teams have to review scope, budget, and implementation?" Marc says the curriculum office wants a pilot while finance needs a forecast. Asha replies, "Pricing and timing depend on the scope and your approval process, so I cannot confirm a purchase today. Let us draft a calendar with a pilot question, budget assumptions, review owners, and the date each item needs an answer. Would finance and curriculum join a working session this week?" Marc agrees to bring both teams.
Asha has replaced a closing request with a decision calendar. The institution can now see which assumptions need evidence and which people must resolve them. That view may also reveal that a smaller evaluation fits the remaining time better.
Use a blank calendar to plan an evaluation from a fictional budget deadline. Add a decision, evidence source, reviewer, and due date for each step. In a call review, look for places where you stated a condition as if it were already approved.
