Hold a renewal conversation after weak faculty adoption
Use adoption evidence to identify barriers and plan a renewal discussion with department owners.
Weak adoption before renewal calls for investigation. An account executive should bring usage evidence, ask when training reached faculty, and find competing systems. Department leaders may have different reasons for declining a tool.
Sponsor Greta says, "Only a few faculty used the platform. Why should we renew, and can you guarantee uptake next year?" Account executive Jules replies, "I cannot guarantee adoption. Let us look at who used it, who received training, and what else departments already license." Greta says invitations went out during finals and several departments use another product. Jules says, "Those are meaningful barriers. Could we review adoption by department with the teaching team and procurement? We can identify one group that wants to test a revised support plan, then decide what evidence would make a renewal useful."
Jules does not treat a low count as a failure caused by one person. He makes the evidence available to the people who can explain local conditions. Procurement joins early because any recovery plan may affect existing agreements.
Bring a simple adoption table to practice: department, invited date, active users, and alternative tool. Ask a peer to challenge the renewal. Review whether your response names a fact, a question, and an owner for the next discussion.
