Earn Time to Discuss ERP Data Handoffs
Use data handoffs to create a specific outbound conversation.
ERP data discussions become vague when sellers name integration before learning what the finance team actually exports, adjusts, or rekeys.
When a prospect names an export, ask what happens after the file leaves the first system. Does someone rename it, add a code, or wait for another team? The SDR does not need architecture detail to learn whether a follow-up is worthwhile. A useful summary repeats the handoff and asks the prospect whether that description is fair before proposing time.
Ask which record is duplicated, when the duplicate is created, and what decision depends on it. A fictional manufacturer may export order data weekly because its operating system and ERP use different customer identifiers.
Do not promise an integration or data mapping before technical validation. Practice asking for a single example record rather than requesting a broad systems inventory.
Secure a discovery meeting with the process owner and note the system administrator who may need to join later.
Use a simple example in which a team exports data and rekeys it. The SDR should ask what changes between files and who notices an error, which is more credible than claiming a seamless integration. Ask whether a corrected identifier is written back anywhere, because that detail shows whether finance repeatedly solves the same mismatch.
