Fintech SDR Discovery for Treasury Access Reviews
How fintech SDRs can ask about treasury access review work without questioning a prospect’s security practices.
An access review is a workflow question. A fintech SDR should avoid asking a treasury team to defend its controls. Ask how the team coordinates an ordinary review: who receives the list, who can confirm a person’s responsibility, and what happens when an answer is incomplete.
For example, a treasury manager says a quarterly review takes longer when an employee has moved teams. The SDR can ask, “When that name appears, who can confirm whether the access still fits the current job?” The manager explains that HR provides a roster, a department lead answers the business question, and an administrator makes the change after approval. The SDR can repeat the sequence and ask whether the roster, approval, and completion record sit in the same place. This learns about handoffs without requesting access data.
If the manager says the process is working well, the SDR should respect that answer. If they describe repeated chasing, ask whether a discussion with the administrator and business approver would be useful. Invite them to a short conversation that maps the review and identifies any unanswered ownership questions.
Coach the SDR to remove loaded phrases such as “access risk” unless the prospect uses them. In a role-play, the buyer says, “We have a formal process.” The SDR should say, “That makes sense. I am interested in how the owners coordinate it,” then ask about one exception. Score the rep on whether they can name the triggering event, the decision owner, and the evidence of completion. A respectful discovery call creates room for a follow-up with clearer qualifications.
