Defining Honest Measures for a Healthcare Pilot
A short pilot plan should name scope, governance, owners, and observable measures without promising a result.
A pilot plan earns attention when it explains what will be tested and how people will judge the experience. The account executive should define a limited workflow, a customer business owner, required governance reviews, and measures that both sides can observe. A pilot cannot guarantee value, approval, or a later purchase.
In a fictional conversation, executive sponsor Remy says, “Give me one page. Can you guarantee the pilot proves value?” Blair replies, “I cannot guarantee an outcome, but we can make the evaluation useful. Which workflow should the pilot cover, and what evidence would leadership consider meaningful?” Remy says, “We need staff feedback and a measure of how the workflow is handled.” Blair answers, “I will draft a scope with those measures, the business owner, and the privacy and governance steps your team requires.”
Blair turns a vague request into a reviewable plan. The customer needs to define success criteria in its own language. Product, security, privacy, and operational teams may all have dependencies. Naming those early is more credible than presenting a pilot as effortless.
Create a practice outline with five fields: workflow, users, evidence, owner, and review dependencies. Roleplay the sponsor who wants to skip every field. The representative should explain why each item helps leadership assess the pilot and secure one next planning meeting.
