Preparing an Executive Review of Open Device Service Issues
Report service status accurately when some resolution steps depend on customer access or scheduling.
An executive service review should show the actual state of every important case. It loses value when the account team hides customer dependencies or uses vague labels such as “in progress.” A strategic account manager can make the record more useful by separating verified service work from items awaiting access, information, or scheduling.
Before the meeting, confirm each case against the current service record. For every open issue, list the assigned owner, completed activity, pending action, and next update date. If a case awaits an access date supplied by the customer, state that clearly and respectfully. Keep the case open and describe the pending access without assigning blame to the customer.
If a chief operating officer asks, “Are you hiding unresolved failures from us?” say: “No. I will walk through the verified case record. Two cases remain open because service needs access dates from the sites; the assigned teams have documented the requests. I will show the service actions completed, the pending customer coordination, and the escalation owner for each case.”
The review gives leaders a transparent account of the work. They can then decide whether they need to remove an access barrier, change the review cadence, or involve a different operations owner.
Practice presenting one case in sixty seconds using only verified facts. Ask a manager to interrupt with a challenge question, then check whether your answer names the record, the dependency, and the next accountable action.
