Plan Product Launch Certification Around Real Selling Readiness
A sales training platform evaluation should connect launch content, approvals, and manager observation before certification begins.
Certification creates confidence only when it tests the conversations sellers will actually have. A product marketing leader may ask for a short course because sales time is scarce. An enablement account executive can widen the conversation by asking which message is approved, which customer questions create risk, and how managers will observe readiness after completion.
Map the owners before recommending a format. Product marketing owns launch messaging. Legal may still be reviewing an external claim. Sales leaders decide how much selling time a pilot can use. A small practice sample can expose gaps without forcing a large program into an unfinished launch.
In a fictional planning session, Noor, an account executive, says, “What would a seller need to say and ask in the first customer conversation for you to call them ready?” Morgan from product marketing replies, “They need the new positioning, but one claim is still with legal.” Noor answers, “Let’s keep that claim out of the practice prompt until approval. Could we have five sellers roleplay the approved message with a common customer concern, then have managers review the recordings?” The sales leader says, “We cannot spare a full day.” Noor responds, “A short pilot can fit around live work and show whether the rubric reflects the release.”
The evaluation becomes a readiness design discussion. It protects teams from treating course completion as proof that an untested message will hold up with customers.
For practice, write three readiness observations for a fictional release: accurate approved message, a relevant discovery question, and a clear next step. Ask a partner to introduce an unapproved claim. Rehearse how you pause it and direct the group to the approved material.
