Design Shared Coaching Standards Across Sales Regions
Guide a regional coaching conversation without treating local selling conditions as an obstacle to useful standards.
Different regional coaching habits often reveal an operating question before they reveal a training need. One region may review calls every week while another depends on annual events. An enablement account executive can help a buyer separate the few behaviors every manager should reinforce from the selling conditions that deserve local judgment.
Start with the routine that already works. Ask how often managers observe a conversation, how feedback is recorded, and where the strongest region created its ritual. Then ask a regional leader what would make a shared expectation hard to use. The answer may concern deal cycles, language, manager capacity, or trust in central teams.
In a fictional meeting, Elena, an account executive, says, “I hear that the North team coaches weekly. What happens in that session that sellers find useful?” Daniel, the global enablement director, answers, “Managers listen to one call and agree on one retry.” Elena asks, “Would it help to treat that as a common cadence while each region chooses the call type and scenario?” A regional VP responds, “I can support that if we are not handed a script.” Elena says, “Let’s bring two managers from each region to a design workshop. We can identify the shared review steps and the choices each region owns.”
This gives the discussion a workable operating model. It also gives overloaded managers a concrete design problem centered on their available time.
Practice by having a colleague play the skeptical regional VP. Explain the workshop in two sentences, then ask one question about local conditions. Listen for any promise that every region will improve in the same way. Replace it with a specific question about ownership, cadence, or evidence.
