Help a Team Launching in a New Market Rebuild Discovery
Diagnose discovery gaps and manager coaching before evaluating a platform for a new sales launch.
When a launch team opens every first call with a demo, an enablement account executive should begin by locating the behavior and its coaching conditions. The immediate question is whether sellers skip discovery, managers score it differently, or the launch motion rewards speed over understanding. A platform discussion can wait until those facts are visible.
Ask for a small sample of recent calls and the current pipeline review criteria. Then ask who decides whether a seller has earned the right to demonstrate. A revenue enablement leader may own the program, while regional managers own the coaching cadence. That distinction makes the next meeting useful.
In a fictional discovery call, Maya, an account executive, says, “You mentioned sellers are showing the product early. What do managers listen for before they coach that moment?” Priya, the enablement VP, replies, “We have no shared scorecard. Each manager has a view.” Maya continues, “Could we review five calls with two managers and mark the questions that uncovered a vertical problem? That gives the launch team a baseline before we choose a practice plan.” Priya says, “We can bring the launch lead and sales operations. Our first pipeline review is in six weeks.”
Maya has avoided predicting behavior change. She has connected evidence to the people who can act on it. The launch review can then track an agreed observation, such as whether calls include a documented business question before a demo.
For practice, roleplay the first three minutes of this conversation. The buyer should challenge you with, “We already have conversation intelligence.” Respond by asking what the existing recordings show and who currently turns that evidence into manager coaching. Review whether your next step names a call sample, the managers, and a date.
