Invite Managers Into a Coaching Platform Evaluation
Use manager experience to test whether an enablement plan can work in the field.
Enablement leaders often design an evaluation around executive goals, then discover that managers cannot fit the proposed routine into their week. A short listening session gives the account executive field evidence before a broader commitment. It also shows managers that their practical constraints belong in the design.
Tomas says to the enablement VP, “Your scorecard is clear. Could we hear from three managers about where a call review fits today?” She worries that managers will turn the meeting into a complaint session. Tomas responds, “We can ask about one recent coaching moment, the information they used, and what made it difficult. That will tell us what a useful routine must accommodate.” She selects managers from two regions and asks sales operations to share their current review cadence.
Set a focused agenda. Ask managers to describe the last time they coached a seller, where they found the call or deal evidence, and what happened afterward. Ask what they would keep if a new practice were introduced. Avoid asking them to approve a solution before they have seen one. Their stories can reveal missing access, conflicting meetings, or a coaching habit worth preserving.
Rehearse an invitation that makes the session feel purposeful. A colleague should play a manager who says, “I cannot spare an hour for another vendor meeting.” Explain the three questions and ask for twenty minutes around a real coaching example. Afterward, review whether your invitation asked managers to perform a decision that belongs to leadership. Use their input to shape the next evaluation step.
