Repair a Coaching Cadence After a Busy Quarter
Work with managers to restart a practice routine after urgent sales work displaced it.
A busy quarter can interrupt manager coaching without proving that the program has lost value. The customer success manager should first understand what displaced the routine and whether managers can restart it in a form that fits current work. A realistic restart begins with one behavior, one meeting, and one owner.
Cal asks a regional manager, “When did the call reviews stop?” She says, “Forecast pressure took every Friday.” Cal follows with, “Which existing meeting still brings sellers and managers together?” “Our Tuesday deal review.” Cal says, “Could one seller bring a customer conversation to that meeting for ten minutes while you decide whether the cadence can return?” The manager agrees to try it with the team handling the most active opportunities.
Do not assume every team needs the same recovery plan. One team may need a shorter review inside an existing meeting. Another may need manager access restored or current content after a product update. Ask managers what one routine they can protect for two weeks, then verify that sellers know what to bring and what follow up will occur.
Roleplay a manager who says there is no time. Ask for the next meeting on their calendar and find one place where an existing decision could include coaching evidence. Then ask the manager to name a seller and a conversation for the first attempt. Review the plan after two weeks using attendance, manager notes, and seller feedback. Decide with the customer whether to repeat, adjust, or expand the routine.
