Use Forecast Pressure to Ask About Manager Deal Reviews
Help SDRs explore how sales leaders inspect strategy during a forecast cycle.
Forecast season makes manager time scarce, and it can expose whether deal reviews examine real customer evidence or only stage dates. An SDR should avoid telling a leader that their forecast is weak. A respectful question about the manager workflow can earn a useful conversation.
Noah says to a regional vice president, “Many teams are in forecast review right now. When a seller brings a late stage deal to your managers, what helps them test the customer’s next decision?” The vice president answers, “We look at close dates and pipeline coverage.” Noah asks, “Who helps managers coach the customer conversation behind those numbers?” The vice president names sales operations and an enablement director. Noah asks permission to invite both to a short discussion.
The timing does not prove a pain point. It gives you a reason to ask about a common management moment. Keep your language curious and concrete. Ask what managers review, what evidence sellers bring, and whether any team has a repeatable routine. A prospect may say the cycle is too intense for a meeting, so offer to reconnect after their deadline.
Roleplay a call where the leader answers with a single word: “Forecast.” Ask a follow up that makes the question easier to answer. Then practice a response when they decline because the quarter is closing. Write the date they give you and the people they mention. On the next contact, use the prior answer to show you listened and ask whether the manager review topic is still timely.
