Follow Up After a Sales Kickoff With a Useful Question
Create a focused follow up when a sales leader has just finished a kickoff meeting.
Sales kickoff can create energy and a long list of new expectations. The week after the event is a useful time to ask what leaders want sellers and managers to do differently once they return to customer work. An SDR should make the question specific enough that the prospect can answer quickly.
In a fictional email, Priyanka writes to a sales leader: “Your kickoff agenda mentioned improving discovery. As managers return to weekly meetings, what will they listen for to tell whether that change is showing up in customer conversations?” The leader responds, “We gave reps a question framework, but managers have not agreed on review criteria.” Priyanka replies, “Would a short discussion with your enablement lead about manager practice be helpful, or would a written example serve you better right now?” The leader chooses a discussion and includes the enablement lead.
The follow up succeeds because it connects an event to a workplace routine. It does not recycle the kickoff theme as a generic reason to sell. The SDR can listen for the behavior leadership wants, the manager moment where it should appear, and the person who owns reinforcement. Those details make the meeting request relevant and appropriately scoped.
Find a kickoff agenda, event recap, or leader post from an account. Select one stated priority and write a follow up question about a manager observing it after the event. Remove the event summary from the opening so the note stays short. Roleplay the reply options: send material, speak with someone else, or schedule time. Draft a distinct response for each option before using the message.
