SDR: Manager AI
Explore manager coaching capacity when a prospect asks what AI can do.
When a prospect asks whether AI can replace managers, an SDR should return the conversation to coaching work. Find the review task that is being skipped, the judgment managers still need to apply, and the policy owners who govern recorded conversations or generated feedback. The goal is a meeting about a real workflow.
Leah spoke with regional vice president Samira, who said, “My managers think AI will either replace them or create more work.” Leah asked, “Which review task has become hardest to sustain?” Samira said managers had stopped listening to calls before individual coaching meetings. Leah followed with, “When they do review a call, what judgment do you expect from them?” Samira said they should choose one behavior to coach and explain why it matters. Leah then asked whether the company’s AI policy was settled. Samira named HR and information security as participants for a working session.
Use the response to qualify a meeting. Describe the manager problem, the decision the prospect needs to make, and the people who own policy or workflow. Avoid claims about hours saved, better performance, or automatic coaching outcomes. Those statements need facts from the customer’s environment and may depend on rules outside the sales team’s control.
Roleplay a leader who asks, “Can AI replace coaching?” Say, “I would first want to understand how your managers review calls and where they apply judgment. Would a session with enablement, HR, and your policy owner help map that workflow?” Review the recording for product claims that outrun the conversation. The follow-up names the missed review moment, the policy question, and an attendee who can decide whether a pilot is appropriate. That gives the meeting a useful boundary.
