Open an Enablement Call After a New Sales Methodology Launch
Use a visible methodology launch to ask a revenue leader about manager reinforcement.
A public announcement about a sales methodology can give an SDR a relevant reason to call, though it does not reveal what the customer needs. The opening should connect the launch to a question about reinforcement. It should leave room for the leader to say the initiative is settled, delayed, or different from what the SDR assumes.
In a fictional call, SDR Lila reaches Grant, a revenue enablement vice president. She says, “I saw your team introduced a new discovery methodology this quarter. I was curious how managers are helping reps use it after the kickoff.” Grant replies, “We already trained everyone.” Lila says, “That sounds like a major step. What do managers listen for when they review whether the discovery questions show up on calls?” Grant pauses and says managers have no common review guide. Lila asks, “Would a brief conversation with the person who owns manager coaching be useful?” Grant names the director of enablement and agrees to an introduction.
The SDR earns a next step by testing a practical hypothesis. The launch is only the reason for relevance. Avoid claiming the customer has an adoption gap before hearing their answer. A concise question about manager behavior can reveal whether there is a real follow up path and who can evaluate it.
Choose three public announcements from companies in your territory. For each one, write a single question about what leaders may need to do after the announcement. Roleplay the call with a partner who answers, “We have that handled.” Practice acknowledging the answer, then asking one focused question. Keep the exchange under ninety seconds and request a next step only when the buyer identifies a real concern.
