Loader Quote Follow Up

A quote follow-up should uncover whether the customer is deciding, still defining the job, or waiting on someone else. Repeating the quoted price rarely answers that question. Review the intended work, the material or attachment request, start date, job location, and the person who can confirm those facts. Then explain what the branch must check before a quote becomes a reservation: available equipment, delivery capacity, and the account process.

Curtis called about a loader quote sent two days earlier. “My crew wants the bucket in the quote, so can you book it for Monday?” Rina asked, “What material are they moving, and has the site confirmed the start date?” Curtis said the excavation permit might move and the crew had asked about forks as well. Rina responded, “I’ll note both attachment questions and ask the rental specialist to review the stated application. Please send the confirmed site contact and target date. Once those are in hand, the branch can check the current equipment and delivery options.”

Rina has made the quote useful by identifying the decision behind it. The attachment question belongs with the equipment review, and the moving permit date affects the timing request. Her language does not turn a price sheet into an assurance that a particular machine or attachment will be available for a particular task.

Try a follow-up with an incomplete quote. Ask the caller to choose the single fact that would change the request most: job date, material, attachment, or delivery address. Summarize the answer in a message that names the open item and the branch review it triggers. A manager can assess the practice by checking whether the note gives the next colleague enough context to act without reconstructing the entire conversation.
