Comparing a Bundle Quote With a Competitor Offer
Help a household concerned about price compare verified assumptions instead of relying on a single premium number.
“Which one is cheaper overall?” sounds simple when a shopper brings a competitor quote. It is usually a request to make unlike assumptions comparable. An advisor can ask for the written offer, identify the household’s priorities, and explain that deductibles, included services, vehicles, and property details can affect a quote. Pricing comes through the approved rating process.
Try this: “I can help you compare the two on the same facts. Please send the competitor summary, and tell me which features matter most to your household. I see roadside assistance is important to you, so we can make that part of the comparison. I cannot promise a price match, but I can show you the verified assumptions.”
Do not describe the competitor as misleading just because its deductible is higher. Ask which deductible appears on the document and whether the shopper wants changes reflected in their own quote. Explain any confirmed differences in plain language and keep claims or coverage guarantees out of the conversation.
For practice, use a competitor quote with a higher deductible and a shopper focused on roadside help. The trainee should build a comparison with two columns containing only written facts and questions that remain unanswered. Then have them deliver an explanation that lasts one minute without saying “better” or “worse.” Score whether they uncovered priorities, named assumptions, and gave the shopper a next step to obtain any missing quote details.
