Scope a Cold Storage Slotting Review for Seasonal Demand
Frame a warehouse slotting evaluation around movement records, layout limits, and temperature handling.
Holiday inventory can expose a warehouse layout that was adequate for normal demand. An industrial account executive can focus the conversation on the current movement pattern and handling requirements instead of promising a labor result from a layout change.
In a fictional call, distribution manager Mei says, “We do not have time for a full redesign, and I need fewer picker hours.” Rep Jordan asks, “Which items create the seasonal peaks, and where do receiving, storage, and picking conflict today?” Mei explains that two high volume items surge before the holidays and the layout came from an acquisition. Jordan replies, “Could the warehouse supervisor bring the slotting map and SKU movement history? I would also like the food safety manager to identify the temperature handling steps that any proposal must respect. We can review a limited area first and decide what deserves further work.”
Jordan has made a smaller evaluation possible without minimizing the operational boundary. The seller does not guarantee labor savings or treat food handling as a detail for later. The plant can choose an area based on records it already owns.
For practice, give the rep a simple warehouse sketch and ask the buyer to insist on a rapid answer. Listen for a question about seasonal volume, a question about temperature procedure, and an invitation to the supervisor and food safety manager. The final recap should identify the area to review and the evidence each owner will bring.
