Handle False Rejects With a Controlled Review of Vision Inspection
Guide a quality team toward representative data and authorized validation when an inspection station changes behavior.
False rejects create reinspection work, yet an immediate settings change can also affect outgoing quality. The technical sales engineer can help the quality team organize a controlled review around the approved criteria and representative inspection data.
Quality manager Nia says, “False rejects rose after our line move. Can you tune the station remotely today?” Engineer Caleb replies, “Before any parameter change, I need the current quality criteria, sample images, and the change control record for the move. Did the lighting or camera position change?” Nia confirms that lighting changed and that the team has images but no labeled defect set. Caleb says, “Let’s have your controls engineer and quality assurance lead identify representative good and defective samples. We can use those to define validation conditions before anyone changes production settings.”
The response takes the concern seriously while placing authority where it belongs. A technical engineer should not alter inspection settings from partial information or make an assurance about what the station will pass. The quality process determines the acceptance criteria and approval of any production change.
Run a coaching drill with five descriptions of sample images. The rep should ask for the documented criteria, the history of line changes, and the validation owner. Evaluate the ending: it should schedule a data review and identify what evidence will be required to authorize a controlled test.
