Ask About Seller Readiness After a Product Launch Signal
Use a product announcement to start a relevant enablement discovery call.
A product announcement may mean sellers need new conversations, yet the SDR does not know what the company has approved or how its launch is organized. The useful move is to ask about readiness checks and route the conversation to the person who owns enablement or product messaging.
Ben calls a product marketing director and says, “Your team announced the analytics release last week. Before sellers use that message with buyers, how are managers checking that they can explain the customer problem it addresses?” The director says, “Enablement is running a webinar.” Ben asks, “Do they also have a way for managers to hear the message in a customer conversation?” She introduces the enablement manager, who is reviewing practice options for the launch.
Do not repeat product claims in the outreach unless the company has publicly stated them and they are relevant to the question. The SDR is not qualified to interpret pending legal or product approvals. Ask about the customer’s process: who owns readiness, how managers reinforce it, and what moment tells the team that sellers are prepared for live conversations.
Practice this call with a colleague playing a product leader who says, “Our webinar covers it.” Ask one follow up question about manager observation without criticizing the webinar. Then roleplay a leader who says launch messaging is still under review. Thank them and ask when it is appropriate to reconnect. Keep a simple note of the approved public signal and the person who should receive a future message.
