Prepare an MSP to represent managed network services
Use a readiness review to align support coverage, ticketing, and escalation commitments.
An MSP can be eager to offer managed network services before its support model is ready to support the words used in a customer conversation. A channel manager can help by mapping the operating model: ticket entry, after hours coverage, escalation contacts, onboarding tasks, and service boundaries. This turns enablement into an operational review rather than a sales presentation.
Ask which ticketing system the MSP uses, who answers after hours, and what information their team can collect before escalation. If after hours coverage is outsourced, ask how the provider reaches the right technical owner and which commitments are already approved. The partner should represent only the service model it can document.
In a fictional enablement session, Willa asks, “Can we tell customers we provide 24 hour support?” Andre replies, “We should use the approved service description and confirm how your after hours team handles tickets. Who owns the outsourced coverage, and how does an escalation reach our operations team?” Willa says the MSP uses a separate ticketing platform. Andre responds, “Let’s trace one incident through both systems. We can identify the handoff fields, contacts, and onboarding materials your sellers need before they describe the service.”
The decision is whether the partner has evidence for the commitment it plans to make. A readiness review creates that evidence and reveals where training or process work remains.
Practice by drawing a ticket path from customer report to technical resolution. Mark the organization responsible for each handoff. Roleplay the round the clock support question. Review whether your response referred to approved service information and proposed a concrete test of the escalation process.
