Support a student facing an internship deadline
Help a student organize next questions when a required placement application is nearly due.
An internship deadline can feel like a judgment on a student's future, especially when the student has not started an application. A success coach can lower the pressure by helping the student identify the immediate requirement, prepare questions, and contact the office that manages placements. The coach should not promise a placement or decide the student's eligibility.
Talia tells coach Devon, "The internship form is due tomorrow. I have no resume and I think I ruined my chance. Can you get me into a site?" Devon replies, "Let us look at what the form requires and what action is still possible today. Have you read the placement office instructions or contacted your program coordinator?" Talia says she only saw a reminder email. Devon says, "The placement team decides site options and deadlines, so I cannot place you. We can make a short list for your call: required documents, late submission rules, and the next review date. The career center may also have a same day resume appointment. Which contact can you make first?" Talia chooses to call the coordinator while Devon helps her locate the published instructions.
Devon does not turn panic into a false rescue. He helps Talia gather facts and choose the first reachable owner. That approach makes the next conversation more focused even if the deadline cannot change.
Practice with a fictional placement reminder. Circle the named office, date, and required materials. Roleplay a student asking for a guaranteed site, then respond with a question that reveals the immediate task. Review whether the student leaves knowing exactly whom to contact.
