Responding to a New Pet Question With Care
Help a household discuss new pet facts and prepare an accurate insurance review.
A household may call after adopting a dog and ask for certainty about every possible incident. The personal lines advisor can acknowledge the concern, ask for the pet details required by the application, and explain where approved product information can be reviewed. Careful language matters because the facts may need formal evaluation.
The advisor says, “I can help gather the information for review. What breed information do you have, and when did the dog join the household?” The customer says, “We adopted her Saturday and only have the shelter paperwork.” The advisor replies, “Please keep that paperwork available. I will explain the next step in the quote review and direct coverage questions to the authorized review team.”
The advisor should never predict claim treatment or assure a customer that a particular event will be covered. Claim determinations depend on the specific facts and policy review. A respectful response gives the caller a useful path without speculation.
Use a roleplay where the customer is anxious and asks three coverage questions in a row. Coach the advisor to acknowledge each concern, collect one needed fact, and direct detailed interpretation to approved resources.
The shelter paperwork can establish the adoption date and available pet description. Tell the customer which approved channel will receive those documents for review.
