Plan a Laser Marking Study Against the Approved Drawing
Use representative samples and drawing requirements to investigate marking readability on coated parts.
Readability concerns invite a quick adjustment suggestion. A technical sales engineer should instead anchor the discussion in the approved drawing, coating variation, and samples that represent actual production. That approach keeps a feasibility study connected to the customer requirement.
In a fictional conversation, product engineer Hana says, “Can we just increase laser power? Our customer needs samples in two weeks.” Engineer Luis replies, “First I want to confirm what the drawing calls acceptable. Does it state a contrast requirement, and do both coating suppliers produce the same thickness range?” Hana says the drawing specifies minimum contrast and the two approved suppliers vary. Luis says, “If you provide the drawing, coating specifications, and representative samples from both sources, we can define a study with the quality manager. The results can be reviewed against the customer requirement before anyone changes a production parameter.”
Luis gives urgency a concrete response: obtain the materials that make a useful study possible. He does not alter a parameter casually or say that one setting will work for every coated part.
Have a peer roleplay the request for more power. The engineer should ask for the acceptance requirement before mentioning settings. Review whether the proposed sample set reflects each approved coating source. The final recap should identify who reviews the findings and how the customer’s drawing will guide that review.
