Enablement Consultant: Account Plans
How an enablement consultant can turn account plans into live decisions.
Account plans fail when they become lists of names and product interests without decisions. An enablement consultant can make a planning workshop useful by asking what the team knows, what it has inferred, and which customer conversation would change the next action. The account itself supplies the test for every field in the template.
Omar asks, “Which stakeholder can change the renewal timeline?” The account director points to a procurement lead. Omar follows, “What have we heard from that person directly?” The team finds an email from eight months ago and no recent meeting. Omar says, “Then the plan should state an assumption. Who will ask procurement what triggers their review, and when?”
This distinction affects the team’s strategy. If procurement joins later as an approver, the next meeting may focus on process and documentation. If procurement influences business priorities early, the account director may need to test value assumptions sooner. The account team can request current adoption facts from customer success and explain how each fact affects the expansion discussion.
Choose one active account and label each key statement observed, inferred, or unknown. In a workshop, play an executive sponsor who asks why the map matters. Use the plan to name the next conversation, the question it must answer, and the person who owns it. Remove one decorative field that has not changed anyone’s action in the past quarter.
